What makes Pro-Wrestling so great? A sport defined by big characters, epic feats and super charged moments. From the suspense, to the surprise to the spectacle, you’re never short of entertainment in the ring! And its this unpredictable nature that enthrals audiences world wide, week in and week out.
As a passionate fan myself, I had always wanted to create something for the pro-wrestling community. And had noticed a gap in the market, specifically within games. Other than leading video game titles and action figures, there was little to choose from in alternatives. And for a scene dominated by a few major names, there was an opportunity to create something from the fans, for the fans.
So In 2020, I set out to create something new in the sector. A card game. One that would emulate the theatrics of the sport and give players the opportunity to step into the ring. I developed an original gaming mechanism, user tested, revised it, tested it again, and gradually gained positive feedback giving me the confidence to release it as a real product.
Inspired by the kayfabe* of wrestling, I centred the entire game around recreating the experience of people’s belief being suspended and heightening their emotions. Larger than life wrestlers, over the top moves andnever ending drama!
I eventually launched the game as a kickstarter campaign in 2023 and successfully raised the full funding in less than a week. The game also featured on Kickstarter’s ‘Projects We Love’, also picking up praise from established voices in the pro-wrestling community including the biggest Wrestling Youtube channel WrestleTalk as well former WWE Wrestler D-Lo Brown. The game was shipped worldwide and enjoyed by many.
Since then, I have worked on a reboot, with a new name (previously Mega) and improved game mechanics. I developed distinct 3D character designs as well as a bespoke typeface to match the personality of the brand. Part of this also includes crafting a tone of voice that leaves wrestling fans excited for more. Overall, the visual identity is bursting with energy, taking every moment to the max!The updated game is planned to be released late 2025.
